Summer is a great time for quick family trips and big vacations. But while you’re getting away from it all, don’t take a vacation from taking care of your teeth! You still need to brush twice a day for two minutes a day, and floss at least once a day. Another smart thing to do is to put our phone number into your phone. Even if you are out of town, if you develop a dental problem, you can still contact Dr. Youssef Saad at Pearl Smile Dental in Fort Worth, Texas, for a phone consultation or for a referral. We can help you find a dentist when you are away from home.

When you are packing for your trip, be sure to pack all of your dental supplies. While a cover for your toothbrush can be purchased in many stores to keep your toothbrush clean, what about your toothpaste? It needs to be kept safe and clean when you travel, especially the cap. The cap can fall off and get lost, and the area around a sink is a breeding ground for germs. You should keep your toothbrush, toothpaste and floss separate from other items when you pack, and make sure your covers and caps are in place. It’s a good idea not to store your dental care items for too long. If they are stored when they are moist, germs and bacteria can set in, causing problems for you later. Not only should they be kept dry, but it is a good idea to replace your travel toothpaste toothbrush and containers every three months.

Traveling can be hard on the body, and while it’s good to take time off, you should not take time off from your dental regimen. If you are getting ready for a trip, or are a frequent traveller, contact us at 817-921-3400. We can give you some good tips for dental care on the road, and it might be a good idea to have an exam and a cleaning before your vacation starts.
